Hospice Volunteers

volunteerPeople who are interested in and skilled at helping people under great personal stress are needed as volunteers to work with our Hospice teams.

Activities may include:

  • Engaging in conversation; listening
  • Preparing a meal; shopping
  • Reading aloud books or newspapers
  • Playing cards, games, or sitting in quiet companionship

Trainings are on-going and provided throughout the year.

Town Champion Volunteers

The VNAH provides care for all who qualify, regardless of ability to pay. To absorb that financial responsibility, we must find additional funding beyond Medicare, Medicaid and private health insurance reimbursements.

One major source of support is the public funding we receive from the 86 towns in our service area.  Just as the fire and police departments have a place in town budgets, so does the VNAH.

We need your help to:

  • Gather signatures of registered voters on town petitions so that we qualify to be included in the town budget warning. This activity takes place between October and December.
  • Attend a town budget hearing in December, January or February and/or your Town Meeting to respond to questions from residents about why the VNAH is important to your town.
  • Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper between December and March, explaining the benefits you see for your community from supporting the VNA and Hospice.

Clinic Volunteers

Help greet clients and support clinicians who visit our clinics, where we provide services such as flu shots, blood pressure checks, foot care, etc.

Other Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are always needed to serve on the committees which support the operation of the VNAH. Office volunteers, local "booster groups" and event volunteers are also needed. Call 802-296-2838, ext 1027 to learn about volunteering opportunities.
