VNA & Hospice Receives grant from Thrifty Attic
Springfield, VT (May 20, 2009) –
The Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice of VT and NH (VNA & Hospice), a non-profit organization providing maternal child health, home health and hospice services, was recently awarded a grant by Thrifty Attic. The grant was used to purchase a portable projector for community education workshops on “Promoting Patient Advocacy through Caregiving”.“We’d like to thank the Volunteers of the Attic for their hard work which has made this grant possible,” comments Jeanne McLaughlin, President and CEO. “Educating caregivers about the aging and dying process as well as the medical choices available will help to empower their loved ones to be advocates for themselves. Our hope is to support individuals in making their own medical and end-of-life decisions. Making decisions about their own health care should lead to a better quality of life for both the loved one and the caregiver.”
The Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice of VT and NH, a compassionate, non-profit health care organization, serves 86 communities from central Vermont to the Connecticut River. For over 100 years, the VNA & Hospice has been providing home and community-based healthcare services to all who qualify, regardless of ability to pay. Last year, the VNA & Hospice made over 150,000 visits to approximately 6,000 patients. Visit www.vnavnh.org for more information.
